removing Varroa mites from the backside of honeybee. As the bees enter
and exit the hive they are “brushed” with the hairs of the VMCE. The hairs
in turn on the honeybee body build up a static electric charge. As the
honeybees touch one another it create a discharge which causes Varroa
mites drop off the honey bee.  This is much like when a person walks
across carpet and touch another person which cause a minor shock to
happen.  The brush is only a mechanical (non chemical) method of
assisting to reduce the threshold of Varroa mites.   The brush fibers are
softer than the nylon bristles of a regular bee brush to avoid any harm to
the wings of the honeybees. The VMCE has been tested in Jacksonville, FL
with positive results.
